Do you buy local?

Yes. Since Avenue first opened over 15 years ago, supporting other local businesses has always been important.  We utilize local suppliers (Aubelos Foods, Salt Spring Island MusselsCat and Crow Farm, Tree Island Yogurt,), and farms (Mountain View Farm) as well as purveyors (Beaufort Estate Winery, Land & Sea Brewing, Ace Brewing Company, Gladstone Brewing Co.40 Knots Winery,  Hoyne Brewing, Phillips Brewing),  as much as possible.

What do you recommend on your menu?

We have a fabulous weekly Fresh Sheet available that’s in addition to customer`s everyday favorites.  Our dishes consist mostly of modern bistro cuisine with local and European flavors. A tasty seafood selection including beer battered cod and fries, grilled prawn skewers, wild sockeye salmon salad, seafood tagliatelle pasta, beautiful oysters (when available) and Salt Spring Island mussels.  Our crowd pleasers include dishes like oyster mushroom calamari and fry bread, S + P wings, bistro steak with shallot blue cheese butter and truffle fries, burger with choice of side, chicken breast supreme with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetable, a tasty vegan bowl, and our fresh pizzas made to order everyday from scratch. Pork schnitzel in different variations and more european/german dishes to come.

Do you have a kids menu?

ARE YOU CLOSE TO THE COMOX AIRPORT?

Yes. Many of our travelling guests will join us either before or after their flight since we are a quick 8 minute drive from the airport. Get directions.

Do you sell Gift Cards?

Yes! Gift cards can be purchased anytime from our host stand. We would also be happy to arrange for a gift card purchase via telephone 250.890-9200 and have the cards mailed to you or your recipient. Gift cards may be purchased in any amount.

Do you have outdoor seating? 

Yes, patio seating is available during Comox Valley patio season. We have patio tables to serve you.

Do you make all your desserts from scratch?

Yes.  We have beautiful cheesecakes, sticky date pudding with warn toffee sauce and a heavenly chocolate mousse all house made. We also add desserts to our feature sheet, so check back often!

Is your menu friendly to gluten-free lifestyles?

We have many Gluten “Sensitive” options on our menu. We have a dedicated Gluten “Sensitive” fryer for fish and chips. We work with suppliers that provide us with Gluten Free tortillas and a Gluten Free bun.  *Note: We do not use any lab testing or any other method to validate a “Gluten Free” claim. In our busy kitchen, we are unable to guarantee that there will be no cross contamination during preparation. Thus, Avenue Bistro is not a ‘gluten-free’ or ‘vegetarian’ restaurant and can take no responsibility should cross-contamination occur between foods.  We can assist with your dietary needs and concerns, but you must be aware that cross-contamination can occur.
